The University recently completed the purchase of a campus-wide site license for Turnitin, a company with a goal “to be the most innovative and effective tool for evaluating students’ written work.” The Turnitin suite includes three tools that are currently being integrated into Moodle: (a) originality checker – the most popular TurnItIn tool because of its plagiarism detection tools; (b) grademark – a tool to provide and improve feedback on students’ papers that are electronically uploaded; and (c) peermark – a system for student to provide structured feedback to each other on drafts of their papers. Implementation into Moodle should be complete sometime in September. Check back here for more details.
