The Office of Distance Learning will host a "Peer-Reviewer Refresher" workshop on April 15, 2014, from 2:00-3:00 pm in Dupre Library, Room 121 (Bib Lab), to discuss frequently “not met” standards, how to craft helpful recommendations, and to hear from faculty whose courses have been reviewed.

In order to maintain high quality online and hybrid courses, the Office of Distance Learning facilitates peer-reviews which lead to ULearn Course Certification. Since Spring 2011, over 60 courses have earned certification. At the “Peer-Reviewer Refresher” workshop, participants will:

  • Hear from faculty whose courses have been reviewed about the kinds of feedback received and how they implemented the feedback;
  • See examples of courses which earned certification initially, and also courses certified after feedback from the review team was implemented;
  • Discuss a select number of QM standards and their corresponding annotations in order to better inform the peer-reviewer decision-making process;
  • Receive tips on writing helpful recommendations; and
  • Review the electronic course peer-review process at UL Lafayette, and specifically the peer-reviewer role.

This workshop is open to all faculty who have completed Quality Matters training and who have served or who are interested in serving as a university or department reviewer.
