Digital Credentials, also known as Digital Badges, are graphic representations of an accomplishment, achievement, or certification.
Coded information, embedded within the image, describes the criteria for the award, identifies the recipient, and validates the issuer. This layering of data makes digital credentials a rich and versatile electronic means of documenting formal and informal personal and professional development that can be reliably verified.
Digital Credentials can be displayed on personal and professional websites, a variety of social media venues, and even within the University's own Moodle learning management system environment. The images when displayed on websites and social media can serve as hyperlinks to pages displaying the credential's criteria and other detailed information.
