Professional Development Webinars Planned Through Spring Semester

The Office of Distance Learning will offer a number of professional development webinars during the Spring semester for faculty members certified to teach online with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. 

Topics range from best practices in online instruction to use of EduTools supported by the Office of Distance Learning.

Designing Online with Accessibility in Mind
2-3 p.m. Wednesday. Feb. 13
Join us virtually as we outline major issues affecting accessibility and usability in online courses. We will look at ways to make online course content more universally accessible for all, as well as discuss avenues and options for accommodation.

Zoom: Web-Conferencing as an Instructional Tool
9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 12
Hosting virtual synchronous class meetings can be a great way to engage your students and "humanize" your course. Join us to learn how web-conferencing can enhance your students' experiences in your online and hybrid courses!

Zoom Basics
2-3 p.m. Tuesday, April 2
A brief introduction to the Zoom web-conference platform including setting up your account and creating and hosting meetings. Plus, a sneak peek at the new Moodle integration, which allows you to schedule and host meetings directly from Moodle.

Humanizing Your Online Course
2-3 p.m. Monday, May 13
Learn ways to increase engagement and presence in your online course.

Collaborative Groups
10-11 a.m. Tuesday, May 14
Collaboration provides opportunities to develop teamwork and leadership skills. In this workshop, we will discuss tools, strategies, and management techniques to facilitate collaborative active learning in online courses.
